DINNER for Mr A and I
Fresh Mackerel
Salad a la Moi
Potatoes

DINNER for Molly and Eve
Quorn Tomato and Basil Sausages
otherwise same as us

DINNER for the girls' mum and other son, Bran, who is nearly 5
Potatoes
Salad
Something vegan that she'll be bringing

Yes, it's 3 different dinners tonight. The girls' are vegetariain, their mum and half brother are vegan.
At the moment I feel in need of a siesta, and will deal with the food later..... Got a couple of hours yet.
A very hot day again and I have been tackling the dreaded Creeping Buttercups. They are crafty weeds, they try and get their roots under stones so you can't get at them easily.
Planted out Cornflowers, Californian Poppies and Marigolds in the huge flower tub. Mr A asked for 'a cascade of flowers', so hopefully, that is what he'll get. O yes, and slug pellets.
Transplanted lettuces out in the garden to take their chances with slugs (pellets again) and weather.

Had a barbeque last night. Welsh beefburgers, red pepper, onion and courgette kebabs. Very nice. I made a curried potato dish to go with it. I didn't check the label on the tin I used and had put a teaspoonful in when I realised I hadn't checked. It was CHILLI POWDER! (Both similar tins). I managed to scrape of most of it and a few spuds had to go in the compost bucket. Also I overcooked them a bit, so it was more a mash. Still, it was tasty and had quite a bite to it.

Mr A is rehersing with his band, only at a neighbours, so not far, this afternoon. Or arvo as the Ozzies say. He did manage to make another window frame earlier, so he earnt his right to go out to play.

Yup, I'm going to have a siesta......

Menu for Freyasday - up for grabs.

by avrilo @ 2007-04-27 - 18:04:00

DINNER
Don't know yet what I shall cook. Last night we had some fresh asparagus that Mr A bought at a farm shop. Absolutely delicious! We have some left, so that will be starter..
I think probably it shall be......
STUFFED SWEET RED PEPPERS
Those long red peppers, shaped like a banana stuffed with rice in a tomatoey sauce
Salad a la Moi - but of course!
Sweet Potato (Mr A isn't a fan, but I love them) I don't know what else to do with them, except boil them.

I finished painting the door to the new porch. It is a fairground mix of orangy peach and bright mustardy yellow. We decided to go with the character of the house and keep the colours that were there already. It's very bright and cheerful.
A friend has painted the outside of her house deep mauve. I like the colour in small patches, and found a whole wall of it too much. A block of unrelieved mauve too - the word I'm looking for is the opposite of uplifting. Depressing is not the right word though.

Here, I'm whittering, I just love typing and my mind isn't focussed at the moment. Possibly because I've just nipped in from the garden, in the middle of transplanting lettuces and found myself on the computer. Molly and Eve left it on, and I came in to turn it off, and then thought 'I'll just check my emails, while I'm on, I might as well check my blog, o ok then, a quick posting.' So, those little lettuces are probably gasping for water, that was my next job before the lure of the bright lights of the blogging world reeled me in.

Favourite cool drink of the month is ginger beer. It has to have real ginger in though. Some bottles have the cheek to say that they are ginger beer, and have no ginger in, just sugar and flavoured water. I find real ginger beer thirst quenching without being too sweet.
Favourite vegetable of, well, forever, is asparagus. British asparagus is better than foreign grown ones. With melted butter and a pinch of salt, it's heavenly.
It could tame the most barbareous and uncivilised heart.
I reckon, that if a very small portion of fresh homegrown asparagus was served up to warring armies just before going into battle and they were given the choice of fighting, or having some more asparagus, then they would not hesitate to down weapons and pick up the buttered green spears and, feeling so good, they decide not to fight after all. A new peace banner could read
'Give Asparagus a Chance.' Or
'Eat Asparagus Not War' - or something like that anyway.

The evening is drawing in, my ramblings must stop. As well as watering the lettuces, I should put out slug pellets. The bastards could devour the whole lot otherwise.

Finally, puppy news. Mr A is going to pick his new puppy, a Jack Russell from the animal sanctuary next week. We shall be bringing her home in 4 weeks. We are already trying to work out the best way of preventing her from running onto the road, which is at the bottom of a flight of steps from our house. After watching 'Dog Borstal' I've picked up some good tips on training dogs. Hopefully, the clattering sound of a rattle (ball bearings in a jar) won't be necessary. Or the skirting of water from a squeezy bottle.

I really must get on..............caio bambinos

Menu for Thursday w ith a bit of chat

DINNER
Spag Bog
Salad a la moi

We have Mr A's mum staying tonight. His dad is having his prostrate done in hospital which is nearer here than where they live, so she can go back first thing in the morning. All went well and he woke up hungry. It's quite a common thing to have done for men of a certain age, my dad has his done. Par for the course. No further details needed or wanted.

It's been a day of painting doors and frames. The peach colour seems to have morphed into a bright orange colour when next to a white background. Molly Eve and Liberty all visited today. The 2 older ones had fun on the computer. Molly has saved Tombraider at a place several levels further on than I got, so I can carry on where she left off.
We did a Simpsons personality quiz to find out which character we were. Molly is Marge, Eve is Mr Burns (which delighted her no end) and I am Dr Hibbert.

Mr A is back from working away having driven most of the day. I told him about the giant spider in the sink, and he seemed disappointed that I left it in with the plug over it all night. His sympathies lay with the spider, not me!

Saddest Thing on the Internet

by avrilo @ 2007-04-24 - 22:52:26

Yes, this was the title of the ad after my last post.
I received no comments.
None.
Non Pointe.

A postscript to the last post. The rain has drowned out the signal to the t.v., so no telly for me tonight.

I tried 'Tombraider' borrowed from Molly. I couldn't get over the second jump I came to. Kept falling off the bloody wall. After about the 20th time of climbing back up I called it quits. Bloody stupid game.....

Massive Spider in the Sink Crisis

by avrilo @ 2007-04-24 - 18:51:49

Got home last night about midnight after singing practice to find the most humungous spider in the kitchen sink. God, how it scuttled! It tried to crawl out and I couldn't even bear to try and find something to pick it up with, so I ran the tap (cold) till it lay over the plughole and stuck the plug in. Impasse. I left it overnight to see if it could go back down the plughole, presumably from whence it came.
So, first thing this morning upon filling the kettle. Nope. Couldn't face it to see if it would scuttle back up, springing back into its horrifying shape, so I left it all day. These big spiders, what they do is, play dead. They look shrivelled up, curled upon themselves, then, when you aren't expecting it, they fill out, extend all 8 legs and MOVE!
By this evening, the washing up had piled up, I had to act. At this point I mention that Mr A is away working for the week, although he isn't fond of spiders, he would have got rid of it. So, it came down to me, and the moment of reckoning. Time to pull the plug, so to speak literally. I lifted it up gingerly, to find a cumpled ball of spider, still there! Bastard hadn't gone away! Now, I wasn't going to be fooled into thinking that it wouldn't suddenly spring into action and leap onto my face, like that scene in 'Alien', so I had implements to hand. I had a big bowl and sheet of paper to cover, and tried to nudge this lump of arachnid into it. It didn't budge. I then got the dustpan and brush and holding it in place with the brush onto the pan, took it outside and threw it into the garden. The heap still didn't spring into 10 times its size and scuttle. So. A night under the plug seems to have done the trick. Mind you, I wouldn't kill the spider, just take it elsewhere, so the death was unintentional. Ugh!

Yes, it's been raining for 2 days now. I know the garden needs it, but I've found my sunny disposition disappearing and the need to sit cosily instead of doing stuff has won out.

Last night, I ordered my 'usual' ' Potato Wedges with Chilli n Cheese, rubbing hands in joyful expectation, only to be told that they had RUN OUT! Shock! I had to make do with Combo for 1, which didn't come near the deliciousness of my usual.
We have rehersal on Wednesday, so I shall go a bit earlier this time and make up for missing it on Monday. The disappointment was palpable, food figures muchly in my life, as you can see.....

DINNER
Sheek Kebabs
Fried Potatoes
Salad a la moi

Morrisons Walnut and Advocaat Flavour Ice Cream

Now the sink is spider free, I guess I shall have to wash up. 'Diary of A Nobody' is on BBC4 tonight, one of my favourite books. A diary of a middle class suburban hopeful which is a classic hoot. I shall be settled with bowl of ice cream to watch it later.

'When I'm Painting Windows...'

by avrilo @ 2007-04-22 - 00:58:37

DINNER
Left over Cauliflower Curry with added Cauliflower, Tamarind, Fenugreek, Mustard Seeds
Fresh Asparagus, new crop grown in this country
Basmati Rice

Mmmmmm...fresh asparagus, with lashings of butter and a sprinkling of salt..MMmmmmmm! As we ate it, sounds of orgasmic gastronomical delight escaped our lips. This ranks as a possible all time favourite feast. This must be some of the nectar that the bible talks about with its heavenly taste.

Today saw me and Mr A working around the house. Him, making window frames, and me painting the front door. (Tonight Matthew, I shall be painting the front door.)
As described earlier, it is a heavy old ex boat door, with 4 little portholes near the top. I painted it in the original colours - peach with a tint of deep orange and bright yellow stripes painted in the gaps between the boards. Very carnival, very Romany. Darling.
Tomorrow I'm painting the back door, and here's a funny thing. I'm actually looking forward to getting up and painting again! I feel a new, fresh outlook has been bestowed, through the Medium of painting. It probably helps that the colours are so cheerful and bright, without being garish.

Because we'd been working all day, we missed out on Brenda's birthday party. Too knackered to go in the end. By the time the paintbrushes were stuck into a jamjar filled with white spirit and the wood shavings were swept up I just felt like eating and watching some telly. Which, luckily enough, is what happened.

I now have some leverage over Mr A to use when I feel I've done something stupid. I can mention the time (today) when he left his phone in his shirt pocket and put it in the washing machine.
Yes, he did. Now his phone is knackered. And yes, he does feel silly.
The phone is waterproof, but unfortunately not machine wash proof.

I transplanted some Cornflowers and Californian Poppies into bigger pots, they are racing away on leggy stems. They will be potted out into a huge black pot to sit outside the house, I plan to fill it with a cascade of flowers. That's the plan anyway.
The Lilly of the Valley bulbs I put in about 10 days ago are shooting up, they were a birthday present and they are famous for the lovely scent they give off.

This painting lark has really gotten hold of me, I missed Dr Who - knowingly - to continue painting. Mind you, I know it's on again tomorrow so I'm not that daft! It took me about 4 hours to paint the door today, I had to paint slowly the straight lines from top to bottom, as well as skirt around the little portholes, letterbox and big ornate metal knob. I found that it helped to breathe out when painting a long line as straight as possible. It became very meditative, I became completely absorbed in the task. If I did it as a job I wouldn't earn that much money as it took me so long to do.

I brought some Freecias today, I love the scent they give off. I also have a jamjar of wild flowers, bluebells, pink campion, yellow vetch, more purple. They look lovely, but I know we shouldn't pick them really, but it was only a few...

Menu for Freysday with Potato Wedges with Cheese n Chilli Update

by avrilo @ 2007-04-20 - 19:49:54

We had another rehersal on Wednesday (5 gigs coming up), so I treated myself to another delicious big plateful - twice in the same week! Mmmm those Potato Wedges with Chilli n Cheese are superbalicious!

Mr A is hammering and sawing like greased lightening, making 4 window frames in all, plus finishing off the porch with shelving and cladding. I have been priming, undercoating and painting yellow and peach on windows and the front door.
Our front door came from a boat. It has 4 little portholes at the top it is unique, it was also hung upside down, as Mr A observed. Still, probably no one else would notice...

DINNER
Cauliflower Curry
Basmati Rice
Naan Bread
Salad a la Moi

Little Rocket dog has been coming down of an afternoon, bringing her ball with her. It is very hard to refuse her, as she dumps the ball at my feet and gives me 'a look.'
The woods are full of bluebells now, a blue carpet - the ideal place to throw a ball for her. She deserves her name, 'cos she shoots off like a rocket after the ball, brings it back and drops it carefully at my feet. Sometimes she runs before I've thrown it, to get a head start. I guess she must go by the sound of where it lands as well as sight. She does look funny, as she leaps and bounds as fast as her little corgi legs will carry her.

This weather is lovely, though Australia is suffering from the worst drought ever at the moment. Along with USA, Oz disagreed with the Kyoto Agreement about global warming because (like USA) it said it would affect their economy too much.
Well, doesn't seem to matter much about the economy when there's not enough water so that crops are failing, animals dying etc does it Mr Oz? That's the thing about money, you can't eat or drink it to keep alive....

Saw a moving programme about US soldiers in Iraq. It was shocking in many ways. The reporter interviewed people queueing up to see friends and relatives that were being held by USA in a prison there. Many said that the prisoners were dragged away, with no real reason and held captive without being able to see their family. An interpreter who did not want to be seen said that the conditions were terrible, the food bad, and little or no sanitation. They were being tortured there.
What gives the USA the right to invade another country, destroy the land, and buildings, kill so many innocents and justify its presence? I felt the war was wrong before watching this programme, but it opened my eyes even more to the injustice of it.
One soldier said "we should destroy those buildings (meaning mosques) 'cos terrorists could fire weapons from them."
Another soldier remarked "It would be better if they had a load of McDonalds and BurgerKing along the roads."
Britain is prostituting itself to the pimp of George Bush, selling our integrity on the whim of an unstable and uncultured man who has been given bad advice.

Got woken up at 6am by Mr A banging on the floor and yelling 'go on! Get out!' Needless to say his remarks were not aimed at me. They were aimed to the cheeky rat who was underneath the house and making a row. Mr A had closed all the entrances the rats had used before, except one where the new porch is. Even with the slamming on the floor and shouting, the rat continued to make a noise, right under where Mr A slept! Eventually it got the message and quietened down. So that hole will be sealed, but will there still be a rat there, with no where to escape?

Yes, It's Cheese n Chilli Potato Wedges Night

by avrilo @ 2007-04-16 - 19:50:48

God, I'm full! This week I couldn't finish the plate and have still eaten myself to gorgedom with a full tum.

The concensus of opinion is that Tom Cruise is a spoilt, belligerent little man who wears built up shoes and chooses his fellow actors for their height - as long as they are smaller than him they have a part...

Mr A is making new window frames for the house. I had to find the same colour paint as the old ones. Peach and mustard yellow, a combination that goes well together. It will match the scalloped edging at the sides of the house. Instead of getting primer and undercoat I got a tin that does both! So, for the next few days I shall be painting and painting, making each window a Rembrant to remember.

We have changed our rehersal nights to Mondays instead of Wednesdays, it has suited some of us better apparently. I will soon be accompanying a friend on the piano, or guitar on her songs. A new venture that I am looking forward to. I felt it time that I got involved in a musical project playing an instrument. I really enjoy just the singing, but have neglected playing, except when jamming of late. So, time for something different and new to keep the creative juices flowing.

Saw 'The Importance of Being Earnest' last night. That Oscar Wilde, he sure turns a witty phrase! I particularly love:
"Tell me about your parents."
"I lost both my parents."
"To lose one parent is unfortunate, to lose two is carelessness."

So, celebrity winge of the day.....
Now that Kate Winslett has split up with her boyfriend, Prince William, I wonder if she will be hounded by the press still about their relationship? She has behaved with dignity, not selling her story yet to the tabloids, and also a fine actress.

One of the reasons given about agreeing that those captured in Iran could sell their stories to the red top papers, was that their families would sell their stories anyway, so the servicemen and women may as well do the same. Bit lame that. I don't think it fair, especially when their collegues are being killed and their families get nothing. Profiting from war sorts the wheat from the chaff in the moral fibre department. If I was in their shoes though, would I sell my story to the paper? I wouldn't be in their shoes in the first place, being a pacifist.

Mr A is going to get a Jack Russell terrier! He rang the animal rescue place and placed his order on a litter of pups that are there. They should be ready to leave in 6 weeks.
We shall go next week to choose which lucky puppy gets an adoring and well behaved owner. The owner will be easily trained and responds well to affectionate pats and treats.

Menu for Saturnsday

by avrilo @ 2007-04-15 - 18:45:52

YESTERDAYS DINNER
Welsh Beefburgers
Roast Courgettes
Roast Red Pepper
Baked Potatoes
Salad a la Moi

Scrummy dinner, eating whilst watching 'Vanilla Sky' with Tom Cruise. Weird film that only got interesting in the last 15 minutes. Tom must stand on a soapbox when talking to others that are obviously taller than him normally. He is seen towering over them in conversation, especially with Cameron Diaz who is quite tall.

The new porch now inplace of the old lean to is looking good, with 4ft windows in each wall so lots of light getting into the kitchen now. It is painted black to match the rest of the house and I'm painting the windows 2 tone, peach and yellow, the same as the other windows.

Lots of flowers out now. Wild daffs, violets, ladies Bedstraw, Campion, others I don't have the names of in hues of yellow, mauve and blues. Not forgetting the bluebells of course which carpet the woods. Fantastic!

Had a good time with grandaughters Molly and Eve. We played charades with much amusement. God knows how I guessed 'The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music' which was Eve's choice. She thinks that is the whole title! Molly got really impatient that we couldn't get 'Nacho Libra'. We named every other thing you could dip with, except nachos! Crisps, Pringles, breadsticks, even Twiglets!
Eve wanted to try ITV2. I told her there was no sound but we tuned into it anyway. The 'Incredible Hulk' was on. As there was no sound, we provided our own voice overs, which was hysterical for the first 10 minutes, then got a bit boring.

Mr A is sawing away, he is making window frames to replace the old ones. I can see a Blue Tit out of my window at the bird feeder. They are so cute, they look like they have little eye masks on with the black stripe from beak to head - like they are going to a masquerade.

A Run of the Mill (made with flour) Menu of the Day

by avrilo @ 2007-04-12 - 18:59:13

DINNER
1 Cheese and Tomato Pizza
1 Pepperoni Pizza
(Buy 1 get 1 free)
Green Salad with Capers

A bit of a boring dinner, but a quick one as Mr A is going out to reherse with his new band. Another hot day, and the garden got watered, because the earth is getting very dry.

Yesterday we had the delicious Potato Wedges with Chilli n Cheese in the pub. There were a group of young lads outside playing a weird game. They would pull on an elastic band really hard, which was around someone's arm then let it go with a snap. There where yells of pain as it snapped, but also howls of laughter too. I guess it's another extreme sport - extreme snapping?
Inside the pub there was another group of lads playing a role playing card game, called 'Magic, The Kingdom.' A bit like Dungeons and Dragons it's quite popular.

I have 2 visitors, Molly n Eve, who say hi. Eve went to Oakwood Tuesday and had a GREAT time, she went on 'Bounce' 3 times, like a huge bungee jump. No one was sick! Megaphobia was great too!
Time for hot chocolate.........

Menu of the Day and Special Guest Appearance

by avrilo @ 2007-04-10 - 21:53:04

DINNER
Chilli Chicken in Tomato Sauce
Basmati Rice
Green Salad with Tomatoes.

Homemade Apple and Blackcurrant Crumble with Ice Cream

Not a very exciting or tasty meal tonight as I'd forgotten to get vegetables earlier!

Here, in living black and white is a very special guest who happens to be visiting who has graciously accepted my offer of writing on my blog.
So, with no further ado, I present...ta! Da! Molly!

Hee! Hee! Funny. I had to go to the dentists today, she says I need BRACES! AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! Well... I may be going a little bit over the top. I have coloured my hair blonde (the top layer only) and am going to have it green soon (the top layer only. Ha!).
At this group I go to, me, Haf, (friend) Nathan (friend) and Elio (Haf's (friend) little brother), earlier on we made up this game that, say I had Nathan on my left and Elio on my right, Elio would say a sentance and I would have to make a song about it, and when I was done I would have to say a sentance or word and Nathan would have to sing a song about it. Elio had to pick a thing for Haf to say and he chose 'too much information' and Haf did a really good job. She went like 'Wow, babey, too much information' and then something like 'I don't need to know about your trouser problems' and it was brill! Me, Haf and Nathan are forming a band (trying to) with me and Haf both singers, Nathan on drums, me on electric guitar and Haf on acoustic guitar. All we need is a bass player and keyboard player and we'll be laughing! WOW! I've written a lot. You don't have to read anymore, BYE!

How about that then? Molly is visiting for the evening after spending easter at the other gran's. Always nice to get a young teen perspective on things!

It's been a really hot day and I've painted the windows for the new porch which Mr A rebuilt at the weekend. I do enjoy painting things, it's so relaxing.

Time for Blackcurrant and Apple Crumble with Walnut and Advocaat flavour ice cream. So night night till tomorrow.....

Pizza with James Bond

by avrilo @ 2007-04-09 - 13:16:44

Last night, after a very filling roast chicken lunch, we watched the new Bond film 'Casino Royale' and had pizza.
To the original 4 cheese topping, I added:
Capers, Even more Cheese, Pepperoni, Chorizo, Mushrooms.
Cor! It was bloody gorgeous!

The film was quite 'bitty', lots going on, my simple mind found it hard to keep up at times. I kept asking Mr A 'who's he?' and 'what did he say?'
He enjoyed the film very much. I kept singing 'Diamonds are Forever, I know I've got one!'

Inlaws came for roast chicken lunch and a pleasant afternoon was had sitting out on the deck in the sunshine. They have just returned from a jaunt around many countries, eastern Europe, Turkey, Greece, Singapore.....they had a great time though found it tiring at the end. An average of 8 miles walked per day, and that's just visiting the tourist attractions! Megan the dog was retreived from Mr A's lovely Aunt Sue, who has Megan's sister, Holly. I think Megan had a good holiday too.

The old lean to has been demolished! Mr A has built a new porch and my job is scraping the old paint off the windows and repainting them. A job I quite enjoy - no heavy lifting..

As I have been offline a lot recently, I haven't caught up with friends' blogs...I am dying to see what Juzzy's been up to, amongst my other mates..I think the sunshine has had a lot to do with it, also my computer has been misbehaving, with no server at times, and computer going slow.

Ah well, flowers are springing up all over the place, so surely a time to celebrate new life, colours and food!

Birthday Party Menu and Catch Up

by avrilo @ 2007-04-05 - 19:34:03

Yup....another very satisfied customer at the pub yesterday, with the knock out cuisine of potato wedges with chilli n cheese - all for $2.75! A huge platefull, including salad. Brenda and I sat there after eating, stuffed, we had to drag ourselves to rehersal with very full tums! We chatted to the chef (tall, dark and handsome) and he told us that the potatoes were roasted, then fried in hot oil. The chilli con carne is home made, with lots of care - he was really proud of it, and rightly so.

The party on Sunday, for my birthday seemed very special. In fact I had 2 parties (buy 1, get 1 free sort of fing.)
In the afternoon, those with children (youngest 7, eldest 13) came. I faffed around and provided:
Chicken, roasted in the oven
Sausages in bread rolls,
Potato salad
2 quiches someone brought, warmed in the oven
Garlic and Parsley bread
Green salad
Bowl of Olives
Lots of Crackers and Different Cheeses
Dorritos and Dips

My friend Mary brought a homemade cake with 5 candles on it. Just as well, as I hadn't provided any sweet food!

So the afternoon was chatting in the sun, it was a gorgeous day.
Then the night shift arrived. A very full carload of musical mates, complete with bedding, guitars and drums!
We had an outside fire and sat around making music. Anna brought her home made didgeridoo (plastic pipe) and was very impressive with her circular breathing, with allows her to breathe in and out at the same time, to keep the note going for ages! The techinique is to fill your cheeks with air and breathe in through your nose. I couldn't do it, it's a very tricky thing to master. The note sounds awesome - like the call of an elephant with a bass voice.

The moon was almost full, it was very still - no wind. There were a few companionable silences which were as enjoyable as the conversation.
At 1.30, I was tired and said I was going to bed. We trouped down to the house for a final cup of hot chocolate and ended up playing music and singing till 4am. Such lovely friends, quality was more important than quantity, and there weren't a lot of people who came, but those who did blah blah blah.

I've just listened to the Archers after writing the last sentence (apart from the last 3 words). The storyline is really hotting up - the story so far....
Brian's ex mistress, who had his love child, is dying from cancer, and wants him to take on their child when she dies. His wife, Jennifer is really upset, as she thinks of the ex as a right bitch. So, Adam, Jennifer's son from her first marriage, has taken his mother off to stay with him as she is in a right state.

Right! Back to the events of the day after the party...
Our lovely neighbours who were away, visit their holiday cottage in the holidays and were happy for party guests to stay in their house. We had 5 friends stay overnight so no hassel sorting out sleeping arrangements.

I cooked baked beans on toast for breakfast - it's a great breakfast to serve if you have lots of guests! Anna was worried as she lost her mobile, we all looked all over the place for it. It was discovered in Rhiannon's bag after they got home. Bad girl!

Molly and Eve were around for the daytime part of the party which was great. They got me the dvd of 'Extras' second series. A laugh out loud show!

Mr A surprised me greatly by buying me a - da da! Wait for it - a Diamond Ring! Wow! It is beautiful! The diamond is a brilliant white and shines with rainbows in the light. I can't stop looking at it!
Now, I hope I don't sound too smug, but, I feel so lucky to have someone so thoughtful to buy me such a lovely present. I still get a glow when I look at it, which is quite often, as you can imagine. He won't say how much it cost, but it must have been quite a lot.
A diamond ring!
For me!
Ok, I am a tad smug now. What with the suffering in the world and all. But. Still. A diamond ring! For me!

I've had Liberty, who will be 3 in July nearly every day for a few hours. I asked her if she knew what happened at Easter, as there was a holiday. I thought that maybe at nursery school, someone might have told the children about the Easter story.

Me: "Do you know why we have an Easter holiday?"
Liberty: "Yes, someone pooed on the roof!"

I laughed!

There have been little things where I've thought 'I must blog about that'. Now, I've left it so long that I've forgotten what those little stories were.
It has been so glorious with the sunshine that I've been in the garden, digging the veg patch and in the potting shed sowing seeds.

Tonight we are having pizza, a 4 cheese one. I add capers, pepperoni, ham, onion, mushrooms and tomatoes.
Plus salad.

A diamond ring! For me! I can't believe it!
